When The Wind Blows – Paperback

The expression Dhāriyāt refers to the wind that blows up the dust. Allāh subhanahu wa ta’ala takes the first oath by these winds giving the sūrah its name. The subject matter of Sūrah Dhāriyāt, like its predecessor sūrah Qāf, is mainly the Hereafter, resurrection, reckoning, judgement and Allāh’s subhanahu wa ta’ala reward and punishment. This is emphasised by the multitude of oaths taken by Allāh subhanahu wa ta’ala at the beginning. “Indeed what you have been promised is undoubtedly true. And retribution will undoubtedly take place.” (51: 5-6)
