Sūrah Fussilat speaks about the signs of Allāh’s SWT creation and how the heavens and the earth were created. Allāh SWT shows us many signs so that we may ponder and reflect; ultimately leading us back to the belief in a Creator. This sūrah also deals with the objections that the polytheists of Makkah would raise against the Prophet SAW.

The book of deeds, the kirāman kātibīn (the honourable angels), the limbs of a person’s own body and the earth will all bear witness for or against a person, on the Day of Judgement when all matters will be decided. Allāh SWT mentions regarding the punishment that will be meted out on the Day of Judgement and how a person’s own limbs and organs will testify against them. Allāh SWT also describes the former tribes and nations who were destroyed as a result of their defiance and rejection of faith.
