The Prophet is reported to have said:

اَلْكَلِمَةُ الْحِكْمَةُ ضَالَّةُ الْمُؤْمِنِ فَحَيْثُ وَجَدَهَا فَهُوَ أَحَقُّ بِهَا

“The wise statement is the lost property of the believer, so wherever he finds it, then he is more worthy of it.” (Tirmidhī)

The book before you – Lost Treasures, is a collection of beneficial stories, poems and statements gathered by Shaykh Muftī Saiful Islām حفظه الله. It is hoped that this will be of benefit for the young and old. The nature of human beings is that they often enjoy being taught knowledge and wisdom in the form of stories and examples and this is the method utilised in the holy Qur’ān as well. This method can often be more effective and fruitful than simply giving commands.

This challenge is posed to the entire mankind and will briefly be explored in this book.

Allāh says, “And if you are in doubt about what We have revealed to Our servant, then produce a sūrah like it and call your helpers other than Allāh, if what you say is true. But if you are unable to do so and you will never be able to do so then fear the Fire fuelled with people and stones, which is prepared for the disbelievers. (2: 23-24)

One of the greatest leaders to ever exist was no other than our beloved Prophet. Although the Prophet was divinely instructed through revelation, he often consulted with his noble Companions y when a problem had arisen. He was always very attentive and keen to listen to the opinion of others when deliberating on matters. He would always attempt to incorporate the advice of the noble Companions in his decisions which allowed scope to take into account differences.

In Sūrah Shūrā, Allāh instructs the Holy Prophet to consult with his Companions. Although the holy Prophet e was in no need in taking counsel from his Companions, Allāh is highlighting the importance of consultations through the holy Prophet. The leaders that consulted their followers often yielded the greatest outcomes.
