These last ten Surahs are not only distinct in their meaning and message which will be discussed in this book, but also the fact that every Muslim should have these Surahs committed to memory as a minimum requirement in seeking refuge in Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala from all harm and evil, and every imperfection as well as seeking solace and peace in understanding His might and attributes. May Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala makes this book a journey of enlightenment and increases us in our awareness and recognition of the fact that even though everything that exists may not have desirable consequences, we can take measures in protecting ourselves from unpleasant outcomes, and it is incumbent upon ourselves to take these measures in saving ourselves from harm and grief.

The seriousness of the events which we will witness on the Day of Judgement has been explained due to the sneering and arrogant questioning of the disbeliever who would scornfully ask the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam about the divine punishment. This is contrasted with the patience that the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam displayed due to his complete trust and certainty in Allāh’s subhanahu wa ta’ala promise.

Sūrah Al-Maʿārij begins by addressing the disbelievers who used to mock the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam about the Day of Judgement. In this Surah, Allāh subhanahu wa ta’ala severely reproaches those who deny it assuming that there is only one life; the life of this world. The Sūrah manifests its horrors and catastrophic scenes that the entire creation shall witness on that very day. Mankind will then realise that on this horrific day, they will be judged by their own actions.
