Many of us go on holidays and travel to get away from the stresses and strains of life, in order to relax and forget about all our problems. This is fine, but we ought to make every journey, a journey of discovery; in connecting ourselves back to Allāh subhanahu wa ta’ala. Despite the constant encounters we face in life, it is necessary to remind ourselves of the real reason why we are here. Mufti Sāhib captures the beauty of Barbados as he takes us through his journey: the submarine expedition, a visit to Gun Hill Signal Station, the fishing boat trip, the soothing dips in the sea, the snorkelling adventure and the visit to Animal Flower Cave in naming a few of the highlights of his journey.

Despite the Muslims being in a minority in Barbados, the level of their commitment and God-consciousness was truly amazing. I was taken aback after reading through Mufti Sāhib’s travelogue to Barbados. The devotion and commitment the Muslims in Barbados have in making the dīn a fully-fledged part of their life and in following the noble teachings of our beloved Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam, is truly phenomenal.
